Arnold Schwartzman has applied his unique creative abilities to everything from sports and soft drinks to books and films, distinguishing himself as an artist in a number of fields. The London-born artist began his career as a graphic designer in network television and as an illustrator for the London Sunday Times. Later, as an advertising creative director, he created award-winning television spots for clients that included Coca-Cola and Philips.
Saul Bass and Associates brought Mr. Schwartzman to Los Angeles in 1978 as a design director. In 1982, he was appointed director of design for the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He gave his adopted city another gift in 1996 when the Skirball Museum and Cultural Center commissioned him to create a permanent exhibit on the achievements of American Jews. Currently, Mr. Schwartzman designs theatrical trailers and graphics for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, among other projects. He also is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and has published a number of books on diverse topics.
