Rosmarie Tissi is among the younger generation of designers who rebelled against the classic Swiss tradition of clean, formal, and ordered design. With her design partner, Siegfried Odermatt, Ms. Tissi works in a more playful and intuitive manner than her predecessors, juxtaposing type, illustrations, and design elements in seemingly random fashion to create a dynamic, lively visual sense.
Created using traditional methods, these unique typographic and spatial solutions, along with a clear yet dramatic use of color, have influenced the international design scene.
Her works (mostly collaborations with her studio partner Siegfried Odermatt) have been exhibited worldwide and are among the permanent collections of the Neue Sammlung Munchen, Germany; Museum of Modern Art, New York; National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo; the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.; the Reinhold-Brown Poster Gallery, New York; Ginza Graphic Gallery (ggg), Tokyo; and the German Poster Museum, Essen, Germany.
