Stefan Bucher is a writer, graphic designer, and illustrator. Mr. Bucher is the man behind 344design.com, store344.com, and dailymonster.com. He is the author and designer of the book All Access—The Making of Thirty Extraordinary Graphic Designers. His illustrated column "ink & circumstance" appears in the pages of STEP Inside Design magazine.
Shortly after midnight on November 9th, 2006, Stefan Bucher filmed himself blowing a drop of ink on a piece of paper and made it into a monster. He linked the result to his blog and, for the next 99 days, posted a new monster every night. With the original 100 monsters done, Mr. Bucher opened up the site to his visitors, inviting them to submit their own creature drawings based on a weekly Open Source Ink Blot. His book about the experience, 100 Days of Monsters, will be published in February 2008.
These days, Stefan Bucher creates gratuitously ambitious work for David Hockney, Tarsem, and the general manager of Per Se.
