A happily transplanted Midwesterner, T. Wayne Hunt became interested in the field of environmental graphic design (EGD) while working in the office of the late John Follis, one of the first environmental designers on the West Coast.
In 1977, Mr. Hunt founded Hunt Design Associates. The firm began as a full-service design shop, but with the evolution of EGD from simple function-oriented communication to sophisticated all-encompassing systems of communicating information within physical space, Hunt Design Associates soon found its niche.
Today, the company is a premier international egd firm, recognized both here and abroad for its dramatic and effective environmental graphic design solutions. These include wayfinding; signage programs; exhibits; and branding for multi-use developments, recreation and sports venues, theme parks, public spaces, entertainment centers, museums, and business environments.
The firm’s clients include the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority; Samsung Electronics; McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas; MGM Grand Hotel and Casino; Paris Las Vegas Resort and Casino; the Mall of America; mca; The Walt Disney Company; the Hollywood Bowl; Kennedy Space Center; Los Angeles Zoo; and the Port of Long Beach.
Mr. Hunt is a past president of the Society for Environmental Graphic Design and has written several books and articles on theming and environmental graphics.
