Internationally renowned artist James Miho has worked as an art director, graphic designer, author, and design consultant over his rich and colorful career.
Mr. Miho was the art director for N. W. Ayer & Son Advertising from 1956 to 1965, art director for Container Corporation of America, and the vice president and creative director for Needham, Harper, and Steers Advertising in Chicago and New York from 1965 to 1972. In 1988, he became the chairman of the graphics and packaging department at Art Center College of Design and served in this capacity until 1996. Along with ongoing freelance work, Mr. Miho has been an education and design advisor to the Innovative Design Systems Labs (IDS) of Samsung Corporation in Seoul, Korea, and a consultant on the Asia Design Programs at Art Center.
Throughout his career, James Miho has been an advisor and consultant to museums and agencies, including the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum, Washington, D.C.; International Museum of Folk Art, Santa Fe; Japanese-American National Museum, Los Angeles; and the National Endowment of the Arts.
