Since establishing the design firm Ph.D with Clive Percy in 1988, Michael Hodgson has designed visual programs and publications noted for their crisp thinking, clear expression, and meticulous craft.
As a creative advocate for his clients, Mr. Hodgson strives to bring his work and that of his team to the highest standards of intelligence, production, and increasingly, responsibility through a growing interest in sustainable design. Along the way, he has helped to redefine the way companies and industries look at themselves, and to expand their view of what’s possible.
In 1979, Michael Hodgson moved to Santa Monica, California, after serving as art director of Harpers & Queen magazine. He has taught at Art Center College of Design and Otis College of Art and Design, is President Emeritus of the Los Angeles chapter of the AIGA, and now serves on the AIGA national board as Presidents Council Chair and on the advisory board of the AIGA Center for Sustainable Design.
