Roland Young began his career with an apprenticeship with master designer Louis Danziger. In 1964, Mr. Young joined Capitol/Angel Records, Inc. as a designer, where he specialized in packaging and advertising. He then took the position of creative director at A&M Records, Inc. Practicing advertising and design in a family atmosphere, he remained with A&M for ten years, producing some of the music industry’s finest album covers and advertising campaigns.
Currently, he is co-principal of the Tracey Shiffman/Roland Young Design Group. The firm’s extensive client list includes Santa Monica College of Design; Art Center College of Design; The Getty Center for Education in the Arts; Capitol Records; A&M Records; MOCA, Los Angeles; Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation; Orthopaedic Hospital; Municipal Art Gallery, Barnsdall Park; 2000 Partnership; Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles; and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Their work has been featured in Graphis, Communication Arts, Vision, Print Casebooks, and Art Direction.
