Vladimir Davydov was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. Since 1994, he has lived and worked in the United States. His work as a graphic designer and artist has been exhibited in Russia, the United States, and Europe.
From 1995–1999, Mr. Davydov taught at a number of institutions in Southern California while continuing to work in the field of graphic design. His lecture topics included “The Suprematism Tradition in the Twentieth Century,” “Russian Avant-Garde,” “Poster Design,” “Constructivism,” “History of Graphic Design and Illustration,” and “Stenberg Brothers Poster Design.” In 2000, he established his own graphic design studio in Los Angeles.
Working both as an artist and graphic designer, Vladimir Davydov tries to eliminate the border between art and design. His graphic design work incorporates several principles aiming for immediate visual response by utilizing such elements as line, color, contrast, and movement. Mr. Davydov believes that, “Good graphic design never has an expiration date. It should always be interesting and modern.”.
He currently is working on a book, The Abstract Graphic Design, as well as his personal art show scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg in May 2004.
