Selected honors: Wolfgang Weingart has received awards from the Swiss Department of Cultural Affairs for his posters and book cover designs; Member, Alliance Graphique Internationale (1978-1999).

Teaching: Schule für Gestaltung, Switzerland; Yale Summer Program in Graphic Design, Brissago, Switzerland; since 1972, he has lectured on his teaching methods in over fifteen countries

Wolfgang Weingart completed his typesetting apprenticeship in hand composition in 1963. He has taught typography at the Basel School of Design since 1968 and, invited by Armin Hofmann, was an instructor during the Yale Summer Program in Graphic Design in Brissago from 1974–1996.

For the last thirty years, Mr. Weingart has lectured and taught extensively in Europe, North and South America, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. He is represented in the permanent collections of museums and private galleries and has received design awards from the Swiss Federal Department of Home Affairs in Berne.

Internationally exhibited, his publications and posters have been reproduced in numerous design references and journals. Wolfgang Weingart was on the editorial board of Typographische Monatsblätter from 1970–1988, and contributed over 20 supplements for the educational series TM/communication and Typographic Process.

A self-taught designer who fosters imagination and insight, Mr. Weingart teaches his students to teach themselves. His experimental work in typography has influenced the course of design history in the last decades of the twentieth century.
