BENEFITS OF PLATO MEMBERSHIP

The ultimate benefit of membership in PLATO is personal enrichment via the expansion of our knowledge into areas of learning still untapped.

Then too, there are the relationships formed with those diversely talented and knowledgeable fellow members who provide so much stimulation and support.

To say nothing of the satisfaction derived from the discoveries of your research and the joy of communicating what you’ve learned to your peers.

But there are very practical benefits, as well, chief among them –

  • The extra years of cogent awareness that research tells us we enjoy by keeping an active, inquiring mind.
  • Seven lectures each academic year (our colloquiums) with notable speakers and an opportunity for questions and answers.
  • Our Special Events (Milhaupt Seminar, Retreat and Holiday Party).
  • Other Activities such as our day trips, brown bag lunches, ad hoc groups and annual meeting.
  • The ability to audit University courses with the permission of the instructor
    ( UCLA Extension courses excepted).
  • Access to UCLA libraries and on-line databases.
  • Discounts at the UCLA bookstore on software, books and more.
  • Timely notice of thousands of educational courses and opportunities from UCLA Extension, among the nation’s largest continuing education programs.
  • Discounts at local shops and restaurants, including:

Thai House Restaurant, 1049 Gayley Ave. – 20% off food.
It Zushi, 10959 Kinross Ave. – 10% off food
Novel Café, 1101 Gayley Ave. – 10% off food
London Cleaners, 1073 Gayley Ave. – 10% off cleaning

The Good Earth, 1037 Broxton Ave.-15% off food
