About this course:

Blockchain has the potential to revolutionize sectors and ecosystems in which trust is needed among parties. Providing increased efficiency, transparency and interoperability across supply chains has been one of the most fertile areas for blockchain experimentation, illustrating both the opportunities and challenges in realizing the transformative potential of this technology. This course aims to help students understand the value and business application of blockchain technology in the supply chain space. Through the course work, students will gain exposure to a diverse set of real-world blockchain case studies, value drivers and review frameworks available to assess the value of blockchain, which applies to diverse supply chains that consist of many stakeholders with different relationships and incentives. The case studies originate from both in and outside of the United States. The course will also cover the ecosystem and collaborative approaches such as blockchain consortia needed among multiple stakeholders with the intent to deploy, accelerate, and scale industry-wide solutions. While blockchain technology has the potential to upend existing systems, this course will also highlight that blockchain is not a silver bullet. This course aims to position the technology in the larger context of digital transformation, traditional technologies and as a complement to other emerging technologies such as Internet of Things or machine learning.
