About this course:

This series of three workshops will provide students an opportunity to apply learnings from the Study Abroad Business Tracks to a real-world project. The first workshop will focus on the key components needed to develop a business model. Students will learn to ideate a business concept, identify a target market, rapid prototype, identify a pricing strategy and the revenue drivers, and how to provide projections which includes start-up costs, payback periods and an internal rate of return. This second workshop will focus on assessing the competitive landscape, identifying the target audience(s), and determining a market strategy. Various research techniques will be explored and incorporated into the planning process. For the final workshop the project teams will present their business plans both orally and in writing as though they were presenting to a group of potential investors. Students will have the opportunity to practice public speaking skills and learn how to create pitch decks that succinctly summarize their business concept.
