This course explores advanced lighting and camera techniques essential to commercial and personal assignments.
What you will learn.
- Using strobe and continuous light, learn to balance artificial and natural light, creating color with the lights and in the camera, and giving still images a sense of motion
- Measure light accurately and make informed decisions regarding light modifiers using professional strobe equipment
- Gain a firmer grasp of how to accentuate female/masculine features using strobe and natural light in a studio environment
- Learn to set a mood, create a personal style, and evoke emotion using artificial light
About this course:
This course explores advanced lighting and camera techniques essential to commercial and personal assignments. Students will explore conventional and DIY lighting tools such as hot and cool continuous sources, studio and portable strobe lighting, professional grip hardware, and light modifications. We will investigate light's intricacies and work to demystify them in support of helping the student find their own photographic voice. Students will learn how to control and shape light within the context of their own portfolio. Capture One software (or Lightroom) is used to provide real-time capture and display of RAW images and Photoshop will serve to finalize projects.
Prerequisites
X 440.22 Lighting I or experience in controlling artificial light.
