Finding the Real Need: Understanding Motivation and Behavior with Neuro-diverse students
Human behavior is motivated by basic underlying needs. Behavior that seems to occur randomly or as a result of unknowable internal thoughts or desires is often just an attempt by students to meet one or more of their basic needs. Being equipped with a functioning knowledge of basic human needs, motivation, and behavior allows educators to find creative ways of constructively and effectively addressing students' needs.
About this course:
Human behavior is motivated by basic underlying needs. Behavior that seems to occur randomly or as a result of unknowable internal thoughts or desires is often just an attempt by students to meet one or more of their basic needs. Being equipped with a functioning knowledge of basic human needs, motivation, and behavior allows educators to find creative ways of constructively and effectively addressing students' needs. When students' needs can be met within the planned structure of the classroom setting, engaged learning is facilitated and challenging behaviors are less likely to occur.Winter 2023 Schedule
