  • Describe the various types of construction related documentation including spreadsheet and web-based logs
  • Describe the document control systems and processes in the construction industry, identify the popular document control software options, and define the legal aspects of document control
  • Describe the Request For Information (RFI) document and identify its practical prevalence in soliciting information for construction projects

About this course:

This class introduces the fundamentals of construction document controls to students who are seeking an entry-level position with a general contractor, construction/project management firm, public agency, or architecture/engineering firm. The course will cover, but is not limited to, the legal aspects of document control, spreadsheet logs, web-based logs, popular document control software, requests for information (RFI), submittals, substitutions, proposed change orders, change orders, field clarifications, schedules, payment requests, inspections, and project closeout. Students completing the course will be able to understand basic document control systems and processes.
Suggested Prerequisites

It is advisable that you complete the following (or equivalent) since they are prerequisites for Construction Documentation.
