About this course:

Blockchain has the potential to revolutionize how companies compete and stakeholders collaborate with trusted data in the world of supply chains. Any implementation of blockchain technology should be approached just as any other new solution an organization wishes to integrate into its overall operation. Blockchain is one piece of the information technology (IT) puzzle that, if deployed correctly, complements the other solutions used every day to carry out routine and mission-critical tasks. This course reviews how blockchain technology can improve transparency and trust of data. Real-life applications explored will include blockchain’s role in improved provenance visibility and data integrity of goods, as it is increasingly important in a world where investors, consumers, employees and regulators need better authentication and validation of sustainable and responsible sourcing in supply chains. The course will explore blockchain’s role within the context of an organization’s overall digitization journey and data pipeline. It will also explore how the value of blockchain is best unlocked when complemented with other Industry 4.0 / 4IR technologies (such as Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence) to help produce trusted data when solving critical challenges. The course includes other critical components for trusted data within blockchain technology, including data protection, digital identity and cybersecurity. It will also touch on the ethical implications and considerations organization’s face today with the creation, storage and use of data.
