About this course:
Follow contestants on a race around the world, shoot underwater footage of hippos in Kenya, document building a home for a deserving family in seven days. These and hundreds of other challenging assignments are typical for field directors and producers in reality and documentary television. Through lectures, discussion with industry guests, and video clips of current hit shows, this seminar demonstrates what it takes to get employment and succeed as a strong field director/producer. Topics include getting the job, prepping the shoot, directing/producing on location, interview techniques, what to do after it's in the can, tech talk, post-production tips, the life of a field director/producer, and looking ahead to the future.
