Kim Adelman, Award winning filmmaker who has produced 19 shorts that have played at over 150 festivals. The author of The Ultimate Filmmakers' Guide to Short Films and The Ultimate Guide to Chick Flicks, she currently writes for indieWIRE, the leading news source on independent film.
Jules Nurrish, Award winning filmmaker, writer and director, her films have premiered at Sundance and aired on the BBC Film Network. Her most recent film, Kiss Me, premiered at the 2012 Palm Springs International ShortFest, where she received the Alexis Award for Best Emerging Filmmaker.
Robert Scheid, Apple-certified Final Cut Pro, Motion, and DVD Studio Pro instructor; television producer; film and television editor and colorist.
Darryl Swann, Grammy Award-winning independent record producer and audio engineer who has worked with such artists as Macy Gray, producer Rick Rubin, Mos-Def, John Frichante of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Erykah Badu, and the Black Eyed Peas.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Rik Pedersen, Student Affairs Officer for the Entertainment Studies program, passed away suddenly last week. During his 14 years at UCLA Extension, Rik touched the lives of many colleagues and students.
A memorial is planned for Friday, March 14 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm at the UCLA Extension administrative building.

New! Entertainment Studies announces the "Certificate in Independent Producing!"
The “Certificate in Independent Producing” is geared towards filmmakers already versed in the actual making of a film. Designed for those who want to become independent producers, students will be taught the skills of marketing and distributing movies themselves, harnessing the power of new technologies and the internet and develop cost-effective and innovative digital marketing plans presenting unique campaign elements and opportunities for lower budget films, including websites, iPad apps and the use of social media to build awareness and engage audiences.
This short but comprehensive 6 course on-line program will prepare students in all aspects of producing, from story development to marketing.
