About this course:

It is important for health coaches to learn the current evidence-based recommendations for optimal health and well-being across disciplines so that they can guide and support related healthy behaviors and recognize when it is important to refer clients to a specialist for further follow-up. Recognizing that approximately 25-30 percent of health coaching involves providing information as requested by the client about specific health behaviors, this course reviews high-level public health recommendations for exercise, diet/nutrition, sleep hygiene, mindfulness, and prevention of substance use. Course material also reviews the evidence-base for these recommendations highlighting recent peer-reviewed research studies. Emphasis on self-care and prevention of burn-out serves as a framework for sustaining professional practice.
