This course stresses rhetorical techniques and skillful argument. Students analyze a variety of academic prose and write a minimum of 20 pages of revised text.

- Comprehend, analyze, and synthesize a variety of texts and genres
- Draft, revise, and edit focused, organized, and appropriately developed documents for specified purposes and audiences
- Peer review writing of other students in the class, demonstrating acceptable analysis of an essay's content and a correct understanding of acceptable English prose

Prerequisites
Satisfaction of UC Entry Level Writing Requirement through test scores listed at www.ucop.edu/elwr, or previous completion of English XL 2: Approaches to University Writing (or equivalent college writing course with a grade of C or better).
