Graeme Gissing

MSc in Zoology; has been a research ecologist for nearly twenty years, focusing on the exploration of unusual reproductive behaviors in birds such as sex-role reversal and cooperative breeding. Passionate about wildlife and wild places, he feels fortunate to have worked in some of the most amazing, and challenging, ecosystems on the planet. From windswept cliff faces in the Canadian arctic to the arid scrublands of Patagonia, these experiences solidified a commitment to environmental education and wildlife conservation. After a research career, he transitioned into education and over the past seven years has served as an adjunct professor in biology at Loyalist College and, most recently, as a faculty lecturer in biology, ecology, and conservation biology at Ambrose University, Alberta, Canada. He currently serves as director of education for Stop Poaching Now!

"I have been fortunate throughout my career in academia to be surrounded by some of the most talented professors, lecturers, and teachers in the profession. One of the key lessons I have learned from my colleagues is that the reward one should seek is really very simple -- the facilitation of excellence and opportunity in others."
