Masaki Koike

Masaki Koike owns and operates Phyx Design, a multidisciplinary design shop in Pasadena. Although focused primarily on creating artwork for a myriad of entertainment industry clients, including artists as diverse as Black Sabbath, Cream, Willie Nelson, De La Soul, Los Lobos, Phish and Joni Mitchell, Masaki firmly believes that good graphic design is essential to all industries, and that every great designer must adapt to a clients' needs.

A former art director at Rhino Entertainment in Burbank, he won a Grammy for his work on What It Is!: Funky Soul And Rare Grooves (1967-1977), and received two more nominations for his work on Black Sabbath's The Dio Years and Phish's The Clifford Ball. Although the Grammy's luster never fades, he continually strives for his next great challenge, while maintaining the integrity of his craft. He has a love/hate relationship with his attention to detail and is obsessed with creative revelations.
