Poetry, Imagery and the Senses

GENINT 731.316
Osher (50+). In this course, we study and write poetry that elicit sense experiences.

About this course:

One of the most powerful tools in a poet's toolbox is imagery, or the ability to use words to trigger sense experiences. How do poets successfully paint pictures—almost subliminally—in the minds of their readers? In this course, we study poets who are masters of that technique, including D.H. Lawrence, Adrienne Rich, and Margaret Atwood. A safe environment is provided so we can try our hand at creating our own work.
