About this course:

In this course, we explore the history of Sicily from where we left off with Garibaldi and discover what Sicily went through and created especially in literature and music with Quasimodo, Verga, Bellini, Lampedusa, Scarlatti, Tornatore, and more. We look at the era of Mussolini on the island and the end of the war and delve into the great diaspora from its start, with special emphasis on the diaspora into America. Is it any wonder Goethe loved the place and the god Demeter settled down there?
