Addiction: International Scourge of Substance Abuse
About this course:
The problem of addiction has been with mankind for millennium. The need to find solace or ecstasy from chemicals is a quick and dangerous decision made by millions. From alcoholism in Russia to the opioid/heroin crisis in the United States, people look for the quick fix that ruins lives and bankrupts economies. This course explores the substances people abuse, the path to addiction, familial and personal consequences, and the impact on society. Relapse and the role of physicians and drug companies in this crisis are addressed. Videos and a guest speaker are presented to bring to life the real stories of addiction and recovery.
