READ MORE ABOUT THIS COURSE

About this course:

Frederic Chopin was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist of the Romantic era who wrote primarily for the solo piano. Today, Chopin is ubiquitous in classical music culture and his compositions are universally loved by amateur and professional musicians everywhere. In this course, we focus on Chopin’s Nocturnes, Etudes, Preludes, Ballades, Concertos, Mazurkas and other important pieces, all of which feature the piano. Our primary focus is on musical meaning and finding listening strategies that relate the music to historical, biographical and artistic contexts of the period. This course will be recorded. Students will have access to videos for the duration of the course.
