About this course:
Falls are the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal injuries in people age 65 and older. Common injuries due to falls are head injuries, shoulder and forearm fractures, spine fractures, and hip fractures. Keeping an active lifestyle is the most important step toward injury prevention and management of other chronic health conditions. In this course, we learn specific techniques to maintain activity or become active again while limiting the risk of falls and associated injuries. In this free, one-day workshop, we review physiology, body mechanics, ergonomics, and other factors that can impair our ability. We also practice exercise techniques to develop, core strength, mobility, and foot coordination.
