About this course:

Dark chocolate is not only good for your heart, but may also improve brain function, alleviate stress, and lower the risk of diabetes. In this course, we analyze the cocoa bean with its hundreds of healthy components like Vitamin B and other vitamins; its rich trove of minerals like iron, manganese, and copper; and its fibers and powerful antioxidants. We also look at the benefits of cocoa flavanols in chocolate bars, cocoa powder, couverture, and cocoa nibs. A history of its medical use going back 5300 years is presented, as well as studies showing how dark chocolate benefits the heart and brain, specifically as a deterrent to Alzheimer's.
