About this course:

Autism diagnosis is at 1 in 52 in the US, and across the world, across every sector of society. Autism isn’t something foreign or in the movies. Many of us know someone with ASD. We even have family members with ASD. This course reviews the defining characteristics of autism—social communication difficulties, repetitive behaviors, and sensory and developmental differences and briefly discuss therapies and interventions. In addition, we discuss the increasing rate and causes of autism. In the second hour, we discuss the impact of this increased rate of autism on society by exploring issues in social integration, employment, and the role of everyday people.
