Be it a novel, short story, or creative nonfiction, the secret to creating a narrative that leaps off the page and grabs a reader lies in the story itself. Explore what a story really is, what your readers innately expect when they read, and how to translate your unique story into the universal language of storytelling. Just as importantly, gain a yardstick to gauge whether each twist you create is on target or a digression that brings your narrative to a screeching halt. Write, workshop, and refine your concept and your protagonist's quest, focusing on what your story is about and how to actualize it. You leave with a clear roadmap of your story from beginning to end and a precise draft of those foundation-setting first several pages.
