This course is designed to introduce students to the exciting and constantly-evolving space of virtual reality storytelling. Through lectures, workshops, assignments, in-class exercises, and a final production project, you will learn the basics of VR storytelling. Starting with a brief historical introduction, we will focus mainly on present-day production techniques, methodologies, and tools, with an eye on what the future may hold. This course is a mix of theory and practical application and will expose students to both the technical and artistic elements of virtual reality creation. Visual references will be discussed, and student assignments and exercises will be presented and critiqued during class. The course will culminate with each individual student creating his or her own short virtual reality film.

Students must have prior experience in filmmaking and film editing. Familiarity with basic production and post-production processes are required to create a final short virtual reality film.
