Course DescriptionThis course is designed to provide the student with an overview of systems engineering including its key activities of requirements, architecture, behavior, and test & evaluation. The course will define systems and how they are brought into being, the various life cycle models that can be used to describe the evolution of a system from concept through disposal, the management of the engineering and other disciplines involved to bring a system into being, the system design and analysis process, and, finally, the importance of operational feasibility analysis as a necessary element during the design process. Reading and problem assignments are designed to reinforce key concepts discussed in lecture and discussion threads. Exams are intended to assess the students' understanding of systems engineering fundamentals.
