Interest in mindfulness-based interventions has grown significantly in the past decade. Recent research suggests these evidence-based practices can improve mental health symptoms, biomarkers related to stress, and even lead to structural and functional changes in the brain. Many of these interventions, such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), require a multi-year development trajectory to meet minimum levels of competence. This intermediate-level workshop will teach the foundational skills of mindfulness facilitation in an interactive, skill-building format to prepare psychotherapists and healthcare providers to integrate mindfulness into their clinical practice. Current research will be reviewed. Participants will develop the practical skills to integrate short mindfulness practices into one-on-one sessions with clients or in-group treatment formats.
