This course is designed to provide the student with an overview of the Design Integration activities within the Systems Engineering discipline. While these activities occur throughout the product development lifecycle, they are especially important activities in reducing design risk during preliminary and detailed product design stages. Reading and problem assignments are designed to reinforce key concepts discussed in lecture and discussion threads. Exams are intended to assess the students understanding of design integration philosophy, planning, and execution. This is one of six courses in the UCLA Extension Systems Engineering Certification program. However, it is designed as a stand-alone course, and will be useful to anyone seeking a more detailed understanding of how the systems modeling and simulation, and design integration processes are intertwined with product development.
