Course Description“All my life, I have been fascinated by the big questions that face us, and have tried to find scientific answers to them.” Stephen Hawking is a world-renowned British theoretical physicist, known for his contributions to the fields of cosmology, general relativity, quantum gravity, and black holes. He has made these concepts accessible to non-scientists through his writings of many popular books, including A Brief History of Time, which was on the best-seller list for more than four years. In this course, we explore that book and other writings to gain a greater understanding of our universe through his eyes. We discuss his current warning that the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) could be the end of civilization if we get it wrong, or our savior if we get it right. These ideas (and more) form an interactive and exciting discussion group.
