This intermediate-advanced course is designed for students who want to improve their oral skills in Spanish. This course uses powerful and authentic Spanish language short stories and poems from Latin America. These literary sources give the students the opportunity to come up with their own insights to speak Spanish in a more imaginative way. More importantly, these literary texts help lead the students to critical thinking by using the texts and interpreting what they have read. The course includes oral reading and retelling stories. Furthermore, the students analyze and discuss the given texts in small groups. As a result, they learn new vocabulary, improve their pronunciation, and become more familiar with the diversity of Hispanic culture, customs, and unique idiomatic expressions.
