About this course:

Available for UCLA transferable credit and designed specifically for creative writers, this workshop introduces you to writing the feature-length screenplay. To ground your understanding of what distinguishes this narrative form from long and short fiction and plays, you study screenplay form and theory as well as published screenplays. Through weekly writing assignments, you learn key elements of feature film writing—including story, plot, structure, characterization, dialogue, and visual storytelling—and you build your critical skills through the process of giving and taking critiques. The course goal is to complete one full treatment and the first 10 pages of one feature. Transferable for UC credit.
