About this course:

When it comes to creative writing, writers of color often face distinct challenges around issues of representation and identity, from the burdens and duties of representing a larger community to the struggle to succeed in a white publishing world. In this one-day workshop, we explore how to create narratives that center on characters of color, read and discuss excerpts from pieces expressing marginalized perspectives, and help students develop ideas based on their personal experiences, family, or cultural history to express their identities as writers of color.
