About this course:

So, you’ve completed your book…now what? This course teaches students how to navigate the sometimes complex book publishing industry so they can take their content from idea to finished project. From traditional publishing to hybrid publishing to self-publishing, the opportunities available for bringing content to readers are as varied as the content itself. Students will learn best practices for professional book production, marketing, sales, and distribution. Those who wish to self-publish will be armed with the information needed to do so successfully; those who prefer to pursue a more traditional track will understand how to become an informed partner in the publishing process. Guest lecturers include publishing experts and successful self-published authors. Instruction focuses on all genres of book publishing including fiction, nonfiction, and poetry for adult, young adult, and children’s literature.
