This online course presents the basics of the financial planning process, as well as the legal, ethical, and regulatory issues affecting financial planners. Time value of money concepts are also covered. The course continues with a discussion of the principles of risk management and insurance, identifying a client's risk exposure, and selecting appropriate risk management techniques. The in-depth curriculum, which includes the use of textbooks and study guides, provides a client-centered, problem-solving methodology that includes case studies, homework assignments, application projects, and group study. The major topics covered are: Introduction to the Financial Planning Process; Regulatory and Ethical Considerations for Financial Planners; Introduction to Time Value of Money; Introduction to the Insurance Industry and Introduction to Risk Management and Related Legal Issues; Introduction to Life Insurance and Annuities and The Life Insurance Selection Process; Disability Income and Long Term Care Insurance and Health Care Plans; and Property & Liability Insurance.
