The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI at UCLA) provides a unique opportunity for individuals age 50 or over to engage in an extensive program of noncredit courses amongst a dynamic community of lifelong learners. Choose from formal lectures, discussion groups, creativity and movement courses, and special events.

Our engaging instructors come from distinguished UCLA faculty, insiders from the arts and entertainment industries, and other experts in a variety of professional fields. We also present non-academic events—such as museum tours, film screenings, speaker series, and more—exclusively for our OLLI at UCLA members.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (referred to as “Osher” or “OLLI”) is dedicated to providing excellence in lifelong learning opportunities for people aged 50+. There are currently 123 OLLI institutes nationwide, all funded in part by an endowment from The Bernard Osher Foundation, which seeks to improve quality of life through support for higher education and the arts.

OLLI at UCLA is a self-sustaining, membership style program. Membership dues, course fees, and our endowment only cover a percentage of program costs. Annual fundraising efforts are essential to keeping the program sustainable and able to serve the 1,300+ members currently active in the Los Angeles area.

Interested in volunteering? Email osher@uclaextension.edu and let us know.  We will add you to our volunteer email list so you will receive notifications whenever a new opportunity is available.

OLLI at UCLA has partnered with the UCLA Extension American Language Center. OLLI members can volunteer to help their international students improve their English speaking skills through casual conversation or structured activities. The American Language Center is located at the UCLA Extension Lindbrook Center in Westwood Village, 10920 Lindbrook Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90024.

As a member of OLLI, you are also eligible to join the Friends of Extension volunteer program. These volunteers provide services to UCLA Extension such as checking in students for courses or helping with any special events.  For more information about the Friends of Extension, please contact Jan Woo at jwoo@unex.ucla.edu or call (310) 825-1024.

OLLI Advisory Board - Advisory board members meet 4 times a year (once per academic quarter) to assist with the OLLI scholarship program. In addition, advisory board members provide feedback on strategic initiatives focused on building community and supporting members.  Appointment to the advisory board is by invitation only.

Curriculum Committee - Curriculum committee members meet in person 1-2 times a year and provide feedback via email as needed. The curriculum committee assists staff by identifying new instructors for the program, sharing highlights from OLLI courses, and promoting the OLLI program. Curriculum committee members also provide ideas for new courses, volunteer opportunities, or special events. To be eligible for the curriculum committee, you must have been an OLLI member for at least 2 years and complete an interview process.

Development Committee - Development committee members meet twice a year with the Director of Development and assist with annual fundraising efforts. These include providing in class presentations about fundraising to fellow OLLI members in the spring time. To be eligible, you must be an active OLLI member and an annual OLLI donor (donation can be of any size). Learn more about the OLLI Development Committee.
