These courses meet in person and make use of an online presence to varying degrees.
Spring 2020 Alphabet: Gothic. Gothic is a very broad classification for many types of blackletter alphabets. It is sometimes called "Old English." There are many Gothic styles depending upon time of inception and country of origin. Each has its own personality and they can be quite varied. What they all have in common is the very textural, architectural quality of a block of text. It can look like a weaving with the letters connecting to one another, and sometimes losing legibility. It is surprisingly easy to learn and lovely to behold. In this class, we will have time to learn the basic Textura Quadrata style and pair it with the beautiful Fractur capitals.
