Charcoal Portrait Drawing

Charcoal portraits have the power to go beyond representation and capture the deep character and emotion of their subjects. During this four-week workshop, students will learn to block out proportions, model the face with depth, and subtly render soft edges for delicate effects. Class time includes instructor demonstrations, personalized critiques, and practice from photographs. By the end, you will reveal the human face not just as a collection of features, but as a rich landscape of light, shadow and form. Appropriate for all levels.
