Tattoo Workshop: Visual Language, Identity & Cultural Symbolism

This course introduces tattoo as a visual language, exploring its cultural history, symbolism, and connection to the human body. Weekly workshops and guided exercises help students develop technical and conceptual skills through drawing, composition, iconography, and body-aware design.
Tattooing is one of the oldest forms of human self-expression and continues to evolve as a sophisticated fine art form. This course introduces tattoo as a visual language, exploring its cultural history, symbolism, and connection to the human body. Students examine cross-cultural traditions and apply these insights to contemporary design. Weekly workshops and guided exercises help students develop technical and conceptual skills through drawing, composition, iconography, and body-aware design. Materials include pencils, markers, stencil tools, and other tattoo-related supplies. No prior tattoo experience is required. Open to beginning and intermediate students, as well as visual artists interested in exploring tattoo as a narrative medium and contemporary fine art discipline
