CEE 235B Finite Element Analysis of Structures (Instructor: Taciroglu, E.) Lecture, four hours; discussion, two hours; outside study, six hours. Requisites: courses 130, 235A. Direct energy formulations for deformable systems; solution methods for linear equations; analysis of structural systems with one-dimensional elements; introduction to variational calculus; discrete element displacement, force, and mixed methods for membrane, plate, shell structures; instability effects. Letter grading.
