About This Course

This course examines the creative, financial, logistical, and legal realities of filming on location from the perspective of the independent producer. While the primary focus is on location-based production, students will analyze how location decisions directly impact story, budget, tax incentives, scheduling, risk management, and both domestic and international partnerships. Through lectures, discussions, field exercises, and applied producing simulations, students will develop the strategic mindset required to execute location-driven projects responsibly and efficiently in both domestic and international contexts.
