Employer Guidelines

For a collaborative and productive relationship with UCLA Extension, employers must adhere to the NACE Principles for Ethical Professional Practice, the Equal Employment Opportunity Policy, the UCLA Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Guidelines, the UCLA Extension Principles of Governance, the UCLA Career Center Guidelines, and the UCLA Extension Career Services policies.

Employers partnering with UCLA Extension Career Services must also comply with the UCLA Non-Discrimination and Harassment Policy, UCLA Substance Abuse Policy, and UCLA Sexual Harassment Policy.

UCLA Extension supports experiential learning opportunities provided in our internship courses. We encourage posting paid internship opportunities on our website. For unpaid opportunities, we will accept positions that match with one of our academic programs offering and internship course.

  • UCLAx Career Services may approve paid and unpaid internships if the opportunity is a match with one of our academic programs offering an internship course.
  • The employer, the student participating in the internship, and the UCLA Extension designate must complete the required Internship Agreement prior to the start of the internship.
  • Our philosophy on unpaid internships is in line with the UCLA Extension Internship Policy (full text here) and the NACE Guide to Internships.
  • Employers hiring international students for full-time, part-time, and internship positions must comply with federal regulations related to CPT, OPT, and on-campus employment. For more information, click here.

Mandatory Internship Agreement: The employer, the student participating in the internship, and the UCLA Extension designate must complete an Internship Agreement prior to the start of the internship. Please read Employer Guidelines for more information.
