Introductory Psychology

This introductory course provides a broad overview of the various specializations in the fascinating field of psychology along with emphasis on applied psychological research.
Critically analyze and interpret scientific psychological research findings
Understand the interconnections of various subfields of psychology
Explore theories related to biology, evolution, and disorders as related to psychology
About this course:
This introductory course provides an overview of the vast and fascinating field of psychology. General introduction includes topics in cognitive, experimental, personality, developmental, social and clinical psychology; six hours of psychological research required. Transferable for UC credit.
Midterm and final exams are proctored online; additional requirements include microphone, headphones/speakers and webcam.
Visitors not permitted. Enrollment deadline: June 29th, 2025. Internet access required. Materials required.
Enrollment is typically reserved for adult students 18 years of age and older. Students under 18 years of age may receive consent to enroll based on special academic competence and approval by the instructor. If you are a student under 18 years of age, you must submit a request to enroll in the course 8 weeks before the course start date to mentalhealth@uclaextension.edu for your request to be considered.
