C. Scott Hindell
C. Scott Hindell is an award-winning UCLA instructor, Business Model Editor, and one of UCLA Extension's most requested instructors for international and custom programs. Over 25 years at UCLA, he has worked with well over 1,000 business practitioners from 87 countries — helping them see their businesses more clearly and build models that actually work.
As a Business Model Editor, Scott works alongside founders and operators to reshape how their businesses function: how decisions get made, how value moves through the system, and how growth happens with more control and less guesswork. He brings this same practitioner lens into the classroom.
At UCLA Continuing Education and Extension, Scott teaches across entrepreneurship, business model design, and innovation. He leads custom programs for international universities, companies, industry organizations, and government agencies, and received UCLA's Distinguished Instructor Award in 2018. As a Master Instructor in UCLA Extension's Instructor Development Program for nearly two decades, he has also helped shape how UCLA trains its own faculty.
Beyond UCLA, Scott leads strategy and innovation at M Accelerator, an international venture studio where he works with later-stage startups navigating growth.
He has presented at conferences in the U.S. and abroad, including a TEDx talk at UCLA — Do You Have Something In Mind?
Before teaching and consulting, Scott spent nearly two decades in portfolio management as a FINRA-registered Principal and Investment Advisor, running his own firm and managing institutional portfolios the last ten years. He managed those portfolios with a proprietary trading method he developed, which outperformed the S&P 500 9 out of 10 years with a lower beta. That background in financial markets — reading patterns, identifying value, managing risk, cutting through noise — continues to shape how he teaches.
Part confidant, part coach, part taskmaster — Scott adapts to what each situation demands, always with the goal of helping people find clarity in complexity.
