Janeen Jackson

Janeen is an educator, artist, and community activist who has spent the last 30 years working to enrich the community and the world through the arts and education. She started her career as a graphic designer then as Art Director at Edelman PR. She then became a professional photographer, where she ran her studio, Prima Photography, for over ten years. Currently, Janeen serves at Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences as the Equity & Justice Coordinator beyond her school's Arts Administrator role.

"I believe that 'Artivism=Arts+Activism' gives voice to those who don't think they have a voice, and to those who don't believe they can be an agent of change." Janeen has branched out into community service through the arts and then into education and civic engagement. Among her many projects, she presently serves as an Arts Commissioner for the City of Santa Monica, currently advising for the City's latest Belmont project (https://www.santamonica.gov/arts/belmar).
